Scratch First, the team behind Wonderfruit and Fruitfull, is looking for a highly skilled and dynamic Art Manager to join our team for Wonderfruit 2023. You will be responsible for managing art installations and art projects across the event, driven by Wonderfruit’s ethos exploring the intersection between mind, nature and culture. Your passion for the arts and design, strong project management skills, understanding of creative processes and ability to collaborate with artists and internal teams will contribute to the successful delivery of extraordinary and immersive experiences at Wonderfruit and related Scratch First programs.

The Role
  • Work closely with the Content Director to develop artistic vision for the festival, aligning with Wonderfruit’s values.
  • Co-curate and manage a diverse and compelling selection of art installations and projects that resonate with mind, nature and community concepts.
  • Identify and collaborate with artists and designers to conceptualize, design, and execute installations that engage with the environment and community.
  • Develop and maintain project timelines, budgets, and resources, ensuring timely execution and adherence to quality standards.
  • Coordinate logistics related to art installations, including site inspection and development, production and installation, live-dates program operation, dismantling, storage and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with site production, operations and programming teams to ensure seamless integration of art installations within the festival site, considering land environment, safety, logistics, programming and engagement during and outside of festival dates.
  • Work with the Marketing team to provide high-quality visual and written content of art installations and art projects.
  • Contribute to the creation of engaging promotional materials, including website content, social media posts, and press releases, showcasing the artistic elements of the festival.
  • Collaborate with the PR team to facilitate media coverage and artist interviews related to the art installations and art projects.
Candidate requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts, Fine Arts, Design Production, Cultural Management, Event Management, or related fields (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 3 years experience in art management within the arts or festival industry.
  • Deep appreciation for various art forms, concept development ability, and a keen eye for visual aesthetics.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building relationships with artists and designers, production teams, and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in coordinating logistics and managing onsite installation processes.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and the capacity to adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality results.
  • Proficiency in Thai and English, speaking and writing.
  • Proficiency in using design technology tools relevant to art installations and art projects.
  • Passion for fostering creativity, innovation, and engaging experiences within a festival environment.
  • Availability to travel for site work, work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and extended hours leading up to and during the festival period.
