Mysterious Producer 008 is feeling groovy, and channeling that energy into an hour-long, one-take, all-vinyl mix to pay tribute to the rhythms and roots of the Afro House sound and their influence on New York house.
Co-founder of the legendary Sofrito warehouse parties and A&R for the cult Sofrito label, the mysterious producer for this week has produced many compilations over the years, he is known for his deep musical knowledge and serious dance floor selections.
“I’m paying tribute to the DJ pioneers of New York and Chicago using a different musical palette, celebrating the rhythms and roots of the Afro House sound. Classic and forgotten tracks from Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Guadeloupe, Ghana, and South Africa, combine with early New York house experiments and dubs in a one away style.”
