What feels like a long time ago now, Wonderfruit invited the field recording experts from MSCTY and their experimental musical friends from Erased Tapes to capture the sounds of Bangkok’s iconic old town.
Seven locations were chosen, and each of the locations was recorded, sampled, edited, looped, and transposed into a collection of original songs and soundscapes by Hatis Noit (Japan, Erased Tapes), Daniel Brandt (Germany, Erased Tapes), Nannue Tipitier (Thailand, Independent), Rival Consoles (United Kingdom, Erased Tapes), Supergoods (Thailand, Tomato Love), Midori Hirano (Japan, Erased Tapes), and Douglas Dare (United Kingdom, Erased Tapes). The final compositions were performed live on Theatre Stage during Wonderfruit 2019.

“We’ve been familiar with this place since we were kids, but we never actually paid attention to it or observed its details in this way. There are many different chaotic feelings in this place that we’ve selected as sources of sound, because they channel multiple emotions.”
Hear those emotions channeled in sound:
