This simplest Object of Wonder comes all the way from Norway via abstract painter and artist Geirulv—a piece of driftwood that graces his home and studio space.
“This piece of wood has been on the shelf in my living room for as long as I can remember. I have no idea where it came from, nor will I ever find out. It was after my mother passed away that it found its way to my studio.
“I find this little piece strong and powerful, yet so chill, smooth, and in perfect balance. It has a beautiful tone, colour-wise, and has a historic smell that makes me think about time and space. There is something pleasant and pure within this old piece of wood. The organic, mystical shape and its presence are a perfect contrast to all the plastic and materialistic things that usually surround me in my studio. I can find myself resting my eyes looking at it. It gives me a taste and a reminder of natural powers, and about the essence of flow while painting.
